Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.
  • How Long Will It Take?

The course includes eight hours of active content (videos, exercises, and sample tests), and you should plan to spend four additional hours studying on your own, with the included study materials. Some students choose to block out a full day (say on a weekend) to go through the active content, and they're able to schedule their FAA tests in that same week. Other people prefer to spread the material out. Although you have access to the course for six months, you should make it a goal to complete the entire course in four weeks - spreading things out too thinly tends to weaken motivation and make it difficult to remember everything.

  • What if I am unhappy with the course?

We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.

  • I am a current sport, private, commercial, or airline transport pilot. Is this class a good option for me?

About 75% of the class covers material that current, certificated pilots should already know. If you have a current flight review, you can obtain your Remote Pilot Certificate by taking a free online course from the FAA. If you do not have a current flight review, you will need to pass the same written test that non-pilots take to obtain your Remote Pilot Certificate. If you'd like a refresher of your aeronatuical knowledge and also want to learn the new FAR 107, consider taking the class.

  • Are there other requirements for the Remote PIlot Certificate?

Yes, In addition to passing the knowledge test, you must be at least 16 years old; able to read, speak, and write the English language; and pass a TSA security check (the FAA performs the TSA check when you apply for the certificate and there is no additional fee for this)

  • How long do I have access to the course?

When you enroll in the course, you have SIX MONTHS access to everything, including all of the sample tests. We've found that having a deadline is a good motivator to actually finish the class and get your FAA license. Most students finish within a month, if not sooner.

  • Do you guarantee that I will pass the test?

We stand behind our course and the results that it generates, but your success does depend on your individual effort as well. We don't offer a pass guarantee, because it's important to have some skin in the game when taking the test.

  • Does the class really cover everything for the test? Is there a guarantee for passing the test?

Past students who have taken the test within a week or two have been able to pass the test with good scores. However, mileage may vary depending on the amount of effort you put in, and we do not guarantee that you will pass the test. While the class does cover everything needed to pass the test, we still encourage you to spend about four hours studying on your own. This will help the concepts sink in and help you feel more prepared for the test. All study materials are included in the tuition.

  • Where can I take the FAA test?

The test must be taken an an FAA approved knowledge test center. These testing centers typically charge $150 for the test.
